You deserve the best.
Hi, I’m Chaliz…
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Colorado and Wyoming and a Qualified Supervisor in Colorado. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Palo Alto University.
I started my journey as a Registered Behavior Technician working with children who had ADHD or were on the Autism Spectrum. I loved helping these children succeed in learning new skills to function better in the world around them. At the same time, I worked closely with parents to understand and facilitate behavior plans on their own, increasing their confidence in managing their child’s behavior.
Eventually, I moved on to working in a myriad of settings, from a low-income high school as a mental health coordinator and therapist, to community mental health settings, and the Department of Health. I have provided psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults between the ages of 4 and 80!
Throughout the years, my specialty areas have shifted to focus on Trauma, ADHD, and Anxiety. I am trained in several modalities such as Eye-Movement Reprocessing & Desensitization (EMDR), Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), amongst many others. See below for a full list!
I have worked on many special projects throughout the years as well. My training allowed me to participate as a member of a CISM and Urgent Mental Health Care Team providing crisis services to the St. Petersburg College community of staff and students. I have also provided hands-on training to police officers joining Crisis Intervention Teams to increase awareness and effectiveness on mental health calls. More recently, I have facilitated departmental projects to increase access to care for higher need patients within the VA community.
Now, I work with Veterans at the Department of Veteran Affairs and run Demut Counseling & Consultation. I have continued my passion for helping those in crisis and suffering from PTSD while simultaneously continuing to aid individuals, families, and other counselors with my consulting services. Supervision and clinical consultation are my way of giving back to my counselor community and being here for the next generation of therapists.
A modern approach
It is essential to me to provide care and services to individuals and families in the most efficient way possible. With technology, my clients are able to receive these services from the comfort of their own homes.
